Stanley #5 Jack PlaneStanley #5 Jack Plane  The condition of this type 16 jack plane is about as nice as one could ask for.  It looks to have been used once and put up on a shelf.  In a dry local. It has not been cleaned or otherwise fiddled with in any way.  Japanning is 98% if not 100%.  Rosewood handle and knob look great with near 100% of the original finishes.

Type 16 planes date from 1933 to just prior to the beginning of WWII.  The cutter is marked with the patent number for the kidney shaped hole in the lever cap which was introduced in 1933.  A super nice example from an era becoming harder and harder to find nice examples from.  Few nicer!!

Fine  . . . . . $125.00     SOLD!!

Stanley #5 Smooth Bottom Jack PlaneStanley #5 Smooth Bottom Jack Plane  No problems here, this #5 Jack Plane is very nice.  It has a sweetheart cutter,, the external frog adjustment, a beautiful Rosewood handle and knob, and all in all is a very nice example that will make for a great user.  It meets the criteria to be a Type 12 dating it from the 1920's or so.   Very Nice.

Good +  . . . . . $75.00       SOLD!

Stanley Pre Lateral PlaneStanley #5 Type 4 Pre Lateral Jack Plane  This is a nice early example. The bed is not marked, and only the cutter / chip breaker and inside the brass nut are marked.  The handle looks like an early and well done replacement.  It is Rosewood.  No other problems.  Clean it and display it.  Nice.

Good + . . . . . . $85.00       SOLD!

Stanley 4 Square Junior Jack (5 1/4)Stanley 4 Square Junior Jack (5 1/4)   A nice example of a Stanley 4 Square Junior Jack plane.  It is basically a 5 1/4 junior jack plane not marked with a number.  Stanley offered the 4 Square line of planes during the depression to appeal to the common man / homeowner for a bit less money.  Many of the 4 square line of tools were basically the same quality as the regular line, just marked differently.  Mainly a marketing ploy.  The main differences are the toe and stippled lever cap are marked Stanley.   The handle still has 80% or so of the 4 Square decal.  The jappaning is pretty nice. The cutter is a Sweetheart era and proper.   Nice enough for the collection or put it back to use.  Different.

Good + . . . . .  $35.00      SOLD!!

Stanley # 5 1/4 Junior Jack PlaneStanley # 5 1/4 Junior Jack Plane   This Stanley # 5 1/4 with its black painted handle and knob is a type 18 from just after WWII  .   The paint is original and 90% or better.  The cutter is near full length.  The wood is OK, and there is no rust or pitting just a nice even patina.  This plane was lightly cleaned and is ready to be put to work.

Good + . . . . . . $85.00       SOLD!

Stanley # 5 1/4 Junior Jack PlaneStanley # 5 1/4 Junior Jack Plane   This Stanley # 10 1/4  Junior Jack Plane looks OK.  There is some light pitting on one side.  No other casting damage or cracks.

Good   . . . . . . $55.00        SOLD!!

Stanley Type 19 # 8 C Corrugated Bottom Jointer PlaneStanley Type 19 # 8 C Corrugated Bottom Jointer Plane  This post WWII era plane is in like new never used condition.  It dates from the 1950's  / early 60's.  No apologies and no issues.  Nice enough for the collection, but also good enough to be a great user!

Fine  . . . . . . $ 225.00         SOLD!!

Stanley # 5 1/4 Junior Jack Smooth PlaneStanley # 5 1/4 Junior Jack Smooth Plane    This # 5 1/4 smooth plane is a pre WWII vintage w/ graceful Rosewood handle and the external frog adjuster. The cutter is full length and never been ground.   It has been tastefully cleaned and rehabbed, and looks like new.  Very Nice!!

Fine  . . . . . . $95.00      SOLD!

Stanley # 5 1/2 H Heavy Jack PlaneStanley # 5 1/2 H  Heavy Jack Plane  This is a pretty hard to find Stanley bench plane.  They were first introduced in 1902 and production ended in 1924.  They were produced mainly to satisfy or influence the English market so as to be closer in weight or heft to English infil panel planes of the same size.  Basically the sole and side rails were cast thicker and the plane is heavier because of it. They are only proper when marked on the casting with a H.  Stanley also offered these H series planes in the 4 1/2 size.

This plane is all original and in nice overall condition.   It appears to be a type 9 w/o the external frog adjusting feature.  The cutter has over 3/4 of life left.   The rosewood handle has been glued and has an interesting repair running up the back of it.  It is solid and looks fine.  The japanning is 90% or so.  The throat is nice.  With a replacement cutter and different but proper handle this unusual plane would easily rate as fine.    Different & nice!!

Good +  . . . . . $1000.00        SOLD!

Stanley #5 1/2 Type 12 Extra Wide Jack PlaneStanley #5 1/2 Type 12 Extra Wide Jack Plane   This is a great size plane.  When properly tuned and sharpened they can move a lot of wood in a short time.  Not to big, and not too small, a bit heavier than the 5, and a bit wider.  It use to be one of my favorites.

This plane has been tastefully cleaned and is in very nice condition.   It is ready for the bench or shelf.

Good +  . . . . . $125.00        SOLD!

Stanley #6 Type 10-11 Jointer Plane  This super condition plane dates from 1910-1912 and does not conform exactly to the type study but i seriously doubt it has been changed out.  The condition is second to none.  The finish is great the wood is great the cutter is nice.  There is not rust or pitting to speak of, and this plane is all original and has never been cleaned.  It has seen little or no use and would rate as excellent / fine on any condition chart.  The throat is perfect,  the japanning is 95% or better.  There will be no complaints about the condition.  These Fore planes are good for those who do not want to push the larger #7 or #8 all day,  and the reduced weight and length make a difference later in the day.  This example is near perfect and exhibits just some minor shelf tarnish from sitting too long.   It is ready to go back to work.  A Nice One!!

Fine . . . . . SOLD

Stanley Aluminum Planes3 Stanley Aluminum Bench Planes  Stanley made and sold a few different Aluminum planes and other tools back in the 20's and 30's.  They made an aluminum version of the #18 block plane, the  #78 and the #45, some levels, a brace, as well as these three different size bench planes, the A4, the A5,  & the A6.

Each of these planes is pretty nice with no major detractions.  They are quite soft, and can oftentimes be found with deep scratches in the soles or sides, but these 3 examples are pretty nice.  Each has been fitted with one of Stanley's aftermarket aluminum handles that were typically offered separately.   I suppose the collector felt they better represented the flavor of the aluminum planes and he probably swapped them out just for the look.

Left #A4 ..... Good . . . . . $100.00    SOLD!

Middle  A5  .........Good+. . . . . . $120.00    SOLD!

Right .......... Good+. . . . . $175.00    SOLD!

Stanley A #6 Aluminum Fore PlaneStanley A #6 Aluminum Fore Plane  The Stanley A 6 is a tough plane to in this nice condition.  It is all proper, correct and very nice.  They were offered for less than 15 years back in the 20's and 30's and were never popular with users.  To light, to soft, and prone to damage.  Stanley sales pitch of rustless did not impress the potential buyers.

Fine . . . . . . . $275.00        SOLD!!

Stanley #6 Fore PlaneStanley # 6 Type 13 Fore Plane  The collector I got the current listings of planes from liked his tools looking nice.  He both used them, and displayed them.  He was from Southern California and was buying back in the 70's and 80's when there was a lot of interest, and a lot of dealers offering some very nice merchandise.  Proper cleaning of bench planes can be pretty simple, or it can be pretty involved.  It is almost an art in a sense, and it can be done well, or poorly.  This fellow had a eye, and bought it nice, or made it nice, because nearly every one of the planes I got from him has been very nice tastefully cleaned and they look great.  This one is no exception.   .

This plane has been tastefully cleaned, and lapped  and is in very nice condition.   It is ready for the bench or shelf.

Good +  . . . . . $125.00      SOLD!

Stanley Type 2 # 7 Jointer PlaneStanley Type 2 # 7 Jointer Plane  Very early, and very nice.  Stanley manufactured these planes between the years 1869 and 1872.   They are very uncommon.  Even more so in this nice condition.  Everything is proper.

Fine . . . . . . . $250.00     SOLD!!

Stanley # 7 C Corrugated Bottom Jointer PlaneStanley # 7 C Corrugated Bottom Jointer Plane  This looks to be a type 10 - 11 with a slightly later lever cap which could be "right" as Stanley did not adhere to type studies as they produced planes using parts from different eras to fill orders.  This is a well known fact.

The japanning is 95% or better.   It is not pitted or rusty.  Nice full length cutter with proper era marked cutter. Good wood.  Good throat.  No casting damage or other problems.  It has the external frog adjusting feature.  Tuned and sharpened it will be a great user at a fraction of the cost of a new plane by one of the current makers.  Ready to go back to work.

Fine . . . . . . . $175.00    SOLD!!

Stanley # 7 Jointer PlaneStanley # 7 Jointer Plane The condition of this Stanley #7 smooth jointer plane is second to none.  It is a sweetheart era and looks as though it was never used.  Others may cost more, but none will operate better than a regular old Stanley bench plane when properly tuned.   It will make a great user or is nice enough for the shelf..

Fine . . . . . $195.00        SOLD!

Stanley # 8C Jointer PlaneStanley # 8C Jointer Plane   This #8C corrugated bottom jointer plane has a stress crack in the throat but is usable and ready to go back to work.  The cutter is nice and near full length.    It will make a good user.

Good  . . . . . $85.00      SOLD!

Stanley #8C Jointer PlaneStanley #8C Type 9 24" Jointer Plane  This nice condition plane dates from the just after the turn of the century and before 1907 according to Rodger Smiths type study on the subject.   The throat is nice, and the japanning is approx 80% or better.  The sides and sole are rust and pit free, and this plane has never been cleaned.  It is in nice original condition showing just minor signs of wear that come with careful use.  Both the Handle and knob are made of the quality Rosewood that Stanley utilized during this period.  These 24" jointers are a favorite of the user crowd because of their versatility & size, and are a true workhorse.  It is ready to go back to work.  A Nice One!!

Good . . . . . $175.00      SOLD

Stanley # 7C Jointer PlaneStanley # 7C Jointer Plane This corrugated Stanley #7 jointer plane is very nice.  It has seen little if any use.  The original buyer paid special attention to condition, and he picked a nice one here.  No apologies here.   It  will make a great user.

Fine . . . . . $150.00             SOLD!

Stanley # 7 Jointer PlaneStanley # 7 Jointer Plane   This is a type 18 post WWII era production plane.  It is in fabulous condition.  No apologies.  Ready for the shelf or bench.  As nice as they come.

Fine +  . . . . . . . $175.00              SOLD!!

Stanley Bedrock # 606 Fore PlaneStanley Type 1 # 6 Fore Plane  This is a type 1 Stanley # 6 dating from 1867 - 1869.  The rear tote is probably a replacement and the properly marked cutter is a bit short  The rest of the plane is pretty nice and looks to be "right" including the banjo cap.  A hard to find early plane that will be a welcome addition to any advanced collection.

Good   . . . . . $295.00          SOLD!!

Stanley # 7 Jointer PlaneStanley # 7 Jointer Plane  This looks to be a type 10 dating from 1907 - 1909 with a later nice cutter in it.  The japanning is 85% or better.   It is not pitted or rusty.  Nice near full length cutter.   Good wood.  Good throat.  No casting damage or other problems.  It has the external frog adjusting feature.  Tuned up and properly sharpened it will be a great user at a fraction of the cost of a new plane by one of the current makers.  Ready to go back to work.

Fine . . . . . . . $175.00   SOLD!!

Stanley Type 2 # 7 Jointer PlaneStanley Type 2 # 7 Jointer Plane  This is a nice example of a hard to find plane. Even more so in this nice condition.  Everything is proper.

Stanley manufactured these early type 2 planes between the years 1869 and 1872.  The main difference between a type 1 & type 2 plane is the shape of the spring on the solid lever cap.  Both type 1 & type 2 planes are very uncommon and hard to find.  They are a testament to American workmanship and quality.  Stanley carried on that tradition for a number of years making small changes to the design and so we have type studies that allow one to pretty closely date these tools.   A fine example that deserves a place on the shelf.

Fine . . . . . . . $295.00    SOLD!!

Stanley #7 Jointer PlaneStanley #7 Jointer Plane   A type 14 sweetheart era plane dating from 1929 - 1930.  Super original condition.   As nice as one could ask for.  Decaled Rosewood Handle.  Full length Sweetheart era cutter.  95% or better of original japanning.  Some stains, no rust or pitting.  No apologies!!

Good . . . . . $195.00    SOLD!!

Stanley Type 4 Pre Lateral # 7 Jointer PlaneStanley Type 4 Pre Lateral # 7 Jointer Plane  This is a nice example of a hard to find plane. Type 4 planes were offered for about 10 years beginning in 1874.  The main differences between type 1 & type 2 planes and the type 4 are that the lever cap is now recessed, and the brass adjusting nut is no longer solid.

This plane is in nice condition.  Lots of life left in the proper cutter,  Handle and knob are OK.  Little or no rust or pitting, just a nice even 100 + year patina.  A nice example that deserves a place on the shelf or can be put back to use.

Good +  . . . . . . . $140.00     SOLD!!

Stanley Type 2 # 8 Jointer PlaneStanley Type 2 # 8 Jointer Plane  Type 2 planes date from 1869 - 1872.  You do not find this early a plane in this nice condition very often.  While the japanning is light, as is often the case in these earlier models, a lot remains.  The Rosewood handle is nice noting a small loss to the top.  Nice long cutter with proper logo.  Good throat.   Some staining, nice rich patina, and no rust or major pitting.  Very Nice and very hard to find!!
