Stanley #1 Smooth PlaneStanley #1 Smooth Plane  This Sweetheart Era #1 is in about as nice condition as one could ask for, and just look at that decal on the handle.  There is well over 95% of the original japanning remaining, and there is no rust,  pitting, casting problems or other damage  that I need to report to you.  This is a prime example of Stanley's smallest and most popular collectable smooth plane.  This example is ready to be proudly displayed on the top shelf as a highlight of the collection.  Go for it!

Excellent........ $1495.00       SOLD

Stanley #1 Smooth Plane2 Stanley #1 Smooth Planes  The Stanley #1 is the most avidly sought of all Stanley Planes for tool collectors.   These 2 examples are the famous Stanley / Bailey #1 Smooth Plane.  On the left is a nice example that is in super nice original condition.  It is a earlier model  pre 1920's which is denoted by the lack of the Stanley logo cast into the cap.  Other than the name Stanley cast into the lever cap on later models, and the logo on the cutter the #1 plane body was unmarked.  The finish on the handle and knob are original and 90% or more of the original japanning remains.  There is no rust or pitting to speak of on the body or sole.  The throat is the proper size and nice as well with no stress cracks or  widening from chips.  The cutter is a more recent NOS replacement with the notched rectangle mark. I have another earlier cutter for it, but it is worn and the logo is unreadable.    There are plenty of #1 planes out there, but not many in as nice condition as this example.

On the left is another example from the same general era with the T logo on the cutter.  The handle and knob are original and in super condition.  The paint / japanning is original and near perfect as well.  There is some light staining / patina on the body sides but no pitting or rust.  The lever cap has the proper B casting mark on the back side.  It is as nice an example as you will find anywhere.

Stanley Sweetheart #1 Smooth Plane Stanley  #1 Smooth Plane  The enduring favorite and most avidly sought of all Stanley Planes for tool collectors, this is the famous Stanley / Bailey #1, and it is in super original condition.    Other than the logo on the cutter early #1 plane were unmarked, probably because of size constraints.  The finish on the handle and knob are original, and there is no rust or pitting to speak of on the body or sole.  The throat is the proper size and nice as well.  There are plenty of #1 planes out there, but not many in as nice condition as this example.

Good........ $1295.00       SOLD

Stanley #2 Smooth PlaneStanley #2 Smooth Plane   This very nice Stanley #2 has the Patent 92 cutter in it, thus dating it from near the turn of the last century.  It is in super condition and still retains over 90% of the japanning.  The Rosewood handle is super and crack free.  The front knob has just some minor cosmetic dings and scratches.  The exposed metal parts exhibit no signs of rust or pitting and this plane has never been over-cleaned.  If you have been looking for a genuine / honest example of this ever harder to find plane, look no further.

Good........ $225.00       SOLD

Stanley #4 1/2 C Smooth Plane  This is the nicest #4 1/2 that I have had in years.  It is all original and looks like it came o the store shelf yesterday.  It has never been cleaned, rehabbed or anything else, it is just a minty nice example of a close to 80 year old plane. It has a Y trademark cutter, 1 patent date behind the frog, and not having a marked cap would make this a type 12 and pretty much dates it from the early 1920's.   It is as nice as one could hope for.

Good........ $175.00       SOLD

Stanley #6 Type 10-11 Jointer Plane  This super condition plane dates from 1910-1912 and does not conform exactly to the type study but i seriously doubt it has been changed out.  The condition is second to none.  The finish is great the wood is great the cutter is nice.  There is not rust or pitting to speak of, and this plane is all original and has never been cleaned.  It has seen little or no use and would rate as excellent / fine on any condition chart.  The throat is perfect,  the japanning is 95% or better.  There will be no complaints about the condition.  These Fore planes are good for those who do not want to push the larger #7 or #8 all day,  and the reduced weight and length make a difference later in the day.  This example is near perfect and exhibits just some minor shelf tarnish from sitting too long.   It is ready to go back to work.  A Nice One!!

Good........ $95.00       SOLD

Stanley #23 Transitional Smooth Plane Transitional bench planes are rarely found in this nice condition.  Other than some minor finish loss along one side this plane is in Excellent + condition.  The cutter carries the T trademark,  thus  dating it from about 1907.  The japanning is 98% or better, and the bottom is full thickness and shows little evidence of use.  You will not be disappointed with the condition.

Good........ $95.00       SOLD

Stanley #A4 Aluminum Smooth PlaneStanley #A4 Aluminum Smooth PlaneThis unusual plane is in super original condition and has all the original and proper parts that it should.   The Rosewood handle and knob are very nice as well.  It appears that this plane has seen little use and has only a few cosmetic scratches on the sole and sides.   Stanley made these Aluminum bench planes in 3 sizes during the 20's and into the 30's, but due to a combination of the times, and the problems encountered in the design they were never very popular and not heavily produced.  During this period they also made a version of their  #45, #78,  and a few other pieces out of Aluminum and this exotic series of Stanley tools can be an interesting challenge to try to completely assemble.   Super!!

Good........ $195.00       SOLD

Stanley #8C Jointer PlaneStanley #8C Type 9 24" Jointer Plane  This nice condition plane dates from the just after the turn of the century and before 1907 according to Rodger Smiths type study on the subject.   The throat is nice, and the japanning is approx 80% or better.  The sides and sole are rust and pit free, and this plane has never been cleaned.  It is in nice original condition showing just minor signs of wear that come with careful use.  Both the Handle and knob are made of the quality Rosewood that Stanley utilized during this period.  These 24" jointers are a favorite of the user crowd because of their versatility & size, and are a true workhorse.  It is ready to go back to work.  A Nice One!!

Good........ $175.00       SOLD

#4 Gage Jack Plane   This plane was made by Stanley after they bought out the Gage Tool Co. of Vineland NJ in their quest for market dominance.  Gage only made a line of wood bottomed planes that were popular, but not really a threat to Stanley.  After buying them Stanley introduced the metal bodied line to compete with the similar looking Sargent Auto-Set Line. This example is in nice uncleaned condition, and still retains  97% of the japanning or more.  The Rosewood handle and knob are nice with just some minor finish loss and a few small nicks to the top of the tote.  There is no pitting or other damage to speak of.  A nice plane in very nice condition.

Good........ $150.00       SOLD

Stanley #21 Smooth PlaneStanley #21 Transitional Smooth Plane   This is the smallest size transitional that Stanley made.  The condition is second to none.

Good........ $195.00       SOLD
