Sargent T & G PlanesSargent Combination Tongue & Groove Planes   Sargent made some very innovative and interesting designed planes and these T & G planes they offered fall into that category nicely.  These are both complete and damage free, but as with many of their products the nickel is weak.  There is a 1068 & 1067 offered as a pair.

Good . . . . .  $350.00 / Pair      SOLD

Sargent # 1508 "Lady Bug" Rabbet & Dado PlaneSargent # 1508 1/2 "Lady Bug" Rabbet & Dado Plane This was Sargent's answer to the Stanley #90 series of planes and came in a range of sizes much like the Stanley 90 -94.  Sargent went a step further and also offered these with an optional fence and depth stop.  Those would be referred to with a 1/2 after the main number like 1508 in this case.  In other words it is proper and to be expected that many of these planes do not have the fence / rod and depth stop, even if the body is drilled for them.  This one does.  They were offered as an accessory.

Good . . . . .  $2950.00       SOLD

Sargent # 74 Circular / Compass PlaneSargent # 74 Circular Plane This compass plane was Sargent's answer to Stanley's #20 Compass Plane.  It is much harder to find, and this one is in nice condition.

Good . . . . .  $275.00     SOLD

Sargent Shaw's Patent # 8 Smooth Plane This model plane was Sargent's answer to the ever popular Stanley Bedrock series of planes.  With its unusual frog design and 3 screw adjusting mechanism, it ranks as one of the hardest and most desirable of all Sargent planes to collect or use.  This plane is in super original condition still retaining nearly all of its original black japanning and its exposed metal parts are rust and pit free.  The Mahogany knob and handle are very nice as well.  This plane has never been cleaned or messed with and is in excellent untouched original condition.  A tough one to find in this size and condition.

Good . . . . .  $295.00     SOLD

Sargent 317 Tailed Block Plane Sargent #317 Tailed Block Plane   This plane is in nice condition.  It is the later version as can be noted by the cap style, and the thick walls with the handy feature.  The cutter is marked 317.  There is no rust and just minor spots of very light pitting here and there.   The throat area is damage free.  The body still retains approx 90% of the original finish, while there has been some looses to the cap.  All proper and original, and you will like it!

Good . . . . .  $395.00       SOLD

Winchester 3063 Dado PlaneWinchester #3063 1" Dado/Rabbeting Plane   Sargent made this plane for Winchester during their short lived foray into the consumer tool market back before the onset of the great depression.  Through a series of marketing missteps and because of the worsening economy during this period, Winchester who was in partnership with Simmons Hardware, had to give up on their plans to dominate this portion of the consumer market.  This plane is in like new condition, with the exception of the cutter, which the previous owner has modified on the top to serve as a moulding cutter of some sort.  By doing this he has lost about 1/4 of height to the top of the cutter and has made the top of the cutter round.  The original working end appears to have never been sharpened.  The japanning is well over 97% and the nickers are as new.  You will not be disappointed, it is the nicest one I have ever seen.

Good . . . . .  $295.00       SOLD

Winchester #3201  (#78) Rabbit PlaneWinchester #3201  (#78) Rabbit Plane As is the case with most Winchester tools and planes, this one has seen considerable use.  It has approx 50% of the japanning, and a rich even patina.  There are no casting problems but there are some bangs and dings as is to be expected.  This plane was made by Sargent and I believe has the proper fence and rod.  I could not find the wing nut for the depth stop in the box where I got this, and so had to replace it with another.  Metal bodied planes marked Winchester are always a challenge to find, and this one is no exception.

Good . . . . .  $145.00       SOLD

Winchester #3080 Scraper Plane   Sargent made this plane for Winchester during their short lived foray into the consumer tool market back before the onset of the great depression.  Through a series of marketing missteps and because of the worsening economy during this period, Winchester who was in partnership with Simmons Hardware, had to give up on their plans to dominate this portion of the consumer market.  During various periods they had either Stanley Sargent or I believe even Ohio making tools for them, and then relying on their reputation and marketing to allow them to sell these products with their name and logo on them.  This plane has been repainted and the sides lapped, but it still looks good.  The cutter is stained and pitted, but it is original, and with a loop you can make out the Winchester name in script on it across the middle.  All Winchester planes are hard to find, and especially so with the scrapers.

Good . . . . .  $155.00       SOLD

Winchester #3058 Spoke Shave     There are some Winchester tools you see pretty regularly, but their spoke shaves are not one of them.  I believe this was made by Stanley, probably back in the 20's when Winchester had their line of hardware stores around the country.  It was short-lived, and most legitimate Winchester tools are pretty hard to find these days.

Good . . . . .  $95.00       SOLD

Sargent #407 (#2 Size) Smooth Plane Sargent #407 Type 2 (#2 size) Smooth Plane   This is a very nice example of an early plane by Sargent Tool Co. one of the major competitors of Stanley in the plane manufacturing business early in the last century.  Being a type 2 dates this plane from before 1910.  This plane retains most of its original japanning, and has a rich and even patina with no pitting or rust to speak of.  The early, proper and original Rosewood handle and knob are very nice as well.  The one apology is that the cutter has been replaced at some point with a Stanley one that dates from the teens.  A tough plane to find.

Good . . . . .  $295.00       SOLD

Sargent 2204 Block PlaneSargent # 2204 Steel Block Plane   This is a very nice example  A tough plane to find.

Good . . . . .  $95.00       SOLD

Sargent # 507 Rabbet Block Plane  Sargent's better idea to compete with Stanley's #140. It is a very fragile plane with those large cut outs but this one made it in fine condition.  The cutter is near full length as well.  Lie Neilson make a knockoff of this in bronze which I believe is still available.  The previous owner did etch his name very lightly in one cheek with an electric pen, very lightly.

Good . . . . .  $225.00       SOLD

Sargent # 722 Tilt Knob Jointer PlaneSargent # 722 Tilt Knob Jointer Plane  Sargent's Auto set line of planes was very popular and a well made plane.  The 722 was the largest they offered and had an unusual tilting front knob.

Good + . . . . .  $295.00       SOLD

3 Sargent Scrub Planes 3 Sargent Scrub Planes   This group of planes may not look special to the casual observer, but all metal Sargent scrub planes are becoming pretty hard to find, and that two cutter model in the middle is one of the rarest of all planes that Sargent ever produced.  These Sargent scrub planes are the #161, #161, & #162 and date from the teens into the 20's or so with the rare 162 only having been made in one production run.  The #162 is often found missing pieces as they were very hard to adjust and oftentimes the owner just took out 1 cutter and a cap and used it with just one cutter.

Good . . . . .  $1750.00 / Lot      SOLD
