Chapin Stevens Vogel Patent Aluminum LevelChapin Stephens Vogel Patent 24" Aluminum Level   An odd ball level dating from the teens / twenties using aluminum before its use making tools had become widespread.  Stanley made a version of this level based on Vogel's patents after they bought out Chapin-Stephens. Versions can be found marked just Vogel, Chapin Stevens, and Stanley.  All versions are hard to find especially in this nice condition.  This one is marked with 4 different dates from the teens / twenties. (see last pic)

Fine . . . . . $65.00    SOLD!!

L. L. Davis # 38 Pocket Machinist LevelL. L. Davis # 38 Pocket Machinist Level  Davis offered this size level either japanned or polished.  This polished example is in fine condition and has never been fiddled with.  Very nice!!

Good + . . . . . $195.00     SOLD!!

Fitchburg Cast Iron LevelFitchburg 18" Cast Iron Level   A well documented level with its distinctive design.  The level bubble is good, the two plumbs are both bad. An easy fix given the access port that is part of the design.

Good - . . . . . $30.00     SOLD!!

L. L. Davis Mantle Clock Inclinometer / LevelL. L. Davis Mantle Clock Inclinometer / Level  Lots of original paint remains on this 6" Davis inclinometer level. It looks to have been overcoated with a clear finish, and a couple of the screws look different from the norm, and each other.   Otherwise nice!!

Good + . . . . . $150.00      SOLD!!

Stanley # 36 G 12 LevelStanley # 36 G 12"  Level  This is a nice looking nickel plated cast iron level.  The center vial cover says it is a 24" but obviously is not.  Not sure if it was replaced or came out of the factory that way, but it seems to be reading correctly.  As can be seen, it is in near mint condition.

Good + . . . . . $15.00     SOLD!!

Davis 12 Cast Iron Level / InclinometerDavis 12" Cast Iron Level / Inclinometer   A nice condition 12" Davis Inclinometer / level.  Still retains most of the original finish.  Good bubble, no chips, cracks, breaks, or other damage.

Good + . . . . . $145.00    SOLD!!

Cast Iron Mystery Plumb & LevelCast Iron Mystery Plumb & Level  Obviously manufactured, but by who?  It is just under 10" long and stands 5" tall.  Much taller than one would think or expect.  Not marked anywhere.  You can still see the milling marks on the 1 1/2 wide rails.  Both bubbles are good.  Very nice and different for sure!!

Good + . . . . . $295.00     SOLD!!

Bebe Patented Cast Iron Lighted LevelBede Patent Mining Level    This is a nice level, noting the bulb is missing.  As if it was never there.  I have heard that most are found this way without the light hooked up and that they are assembled afterward to make them right.

Good . . . . .  $895.00       SOLD

Davis & Cook "Pin Wheel" LevelDavis & Cook 12" Cast Iron "Pin Wheel" Level    This is a rare design for a metal level. The came in several sizes and also aluminum I believe.

Good . . . . .  $795.00       SOLD

Davis & Cook 24" Aluminum Level Davis & Cook 24" Aluminum Level  This unusual level is in very nice condition.  The rings around the adjustable vials have all the important info giving the Manufacturer as Davis & Cook of Watertown N.Y. and the Patent date of Oct 20th 1903.  This was one of the first tools or levels that was produced from Aluminum and is quite unusual for this and it's unique design and decorative finish.  Seldom seen and rarely offered for sale, it is a good one!

Good . . . . .$495.00   SOLD

L. L. Davis Mantle Clock Inclinometer / LevelL. L. Davis Mantle Clock Inclinometer / Level  Look at all the original paint and decoration that remains on this 6" Davis inclinometer level. It looks to have been mounted on a board at one time given the countersunk holes at each end.   Otherwise very nice!!

Good  . . . . . $125.00      SOLD!!

Fine . . . . .$45.00      SOLD

Stanley LevelStanley # XX  24"  Cast Iron Nickel Plated Level   This looks like a #36, but it is not marked with any model # in the usual places.  The bubbles are OK.  A nice example.

Good + . . . . .$50.00         SOLD!!

Stanley #313 24 Aluminum LevelStanley #313 24" Aluminum Level  This is NOS and looks to have never been used.  The owner just taped the original box and left it on the shelf   This is nice, and all original.

Stratton Brothers 6" Machinist Level Stratton Brothers 6" Machinist Level This is a rare example of a very hard to find level that Stratton Brothers produced during their heyday in the late 19th century.  The bubble is good and appear to be original.  There is some nickel loss as can be seen in the Pic, but the design is still sharp and nice.  Only the 3rd one I have ever seen.

Good . . . . $395.00         SOLD

Starrett 6 Inch Cast Iron Machinist LevelStarrett 6" Cast Iron Machinist Level  This is an early Starrett level. The bubbles are full and there are no cracks or chips.   It does not have  lot of finish, but is otherwise nice.

Good  . . . . . $40.00            SOLD!!

Davis Level & Tool Co. Marked #37 1/2 Pocket Level Davis Level & Tool Co. Marked #37 1/2 Pocket Level This level is clearly marked with both the size and the Davis L. T. & Co. round logo.  It is in super condition even though there is not a whole lot of japanning left.  Like the unmarked example below this one measures 3 1/2" long.

Good . . . . . .$245.00         SOLD

C. E. Jennings 12" Cast Iron Level C. E. Jennings 12" Cast Iron Level  This interesting and unusual level is nearly as graphic as those made under the Davis Patent, and well could have been made by them for Jennings.  This example still sports approx. 80% or so of it black japanned finish.  The bubbles are all good and appear to be original.  There is no damage to the webbing, or chips at the ends or corners as is often the case.  There is one small casting flaw in the top rail, but this is factory.  An interesting note about this level is that it appears that the main vial is adjustable as there are 4 screws at the bottom under the main vial, and there is a cradle affair that this vial sets in.   I would imagine that this indicates an adjustable feature that the more typical Davis levels lack.

Good . . . . .$125.00       SOLD

Davis 12" Cast Iron LevelDavis 12" Cast Iron Level  This is a nice looking 12" Davis level in the small frame size.

Good . . . . .$125.00        SOLD

Wm. T. Nicholson 1860 Patent #13 Cast Iron LevelWm. T. Nicholson 1860 Patent #13 Cast Iron Level This level is in nice condition and although it shows considerable wear and loss of finish it is none the less a hard level to find. With a careful cleaning it will be ready to take its place with the rest of your rare Stanley pieces.  The main vial may have been replaced and the plumb is good and original.  This style level has a peep hole in the base for overhead work.

Good . . . . .$125.00      SOLD

Fitchburg Cast Iron LevelFitchburg 12" Cast Iron Level   This is a pretty rare level.  They are almost always unmarked, but ads have been found for them and so we know it is called the Fitchburg, which was an outfit from MA.   The side plates are removable to make changing out the vials a bit easier. It has an interesting web design that is very distinctive.

Good  . . . . . .$225.00          SOLD!!

Keen Kutter KK # K624 Cast Iron 24" Level Cast iron levels by Keen Kutter are very difficult to find, and to find one in this condition is even harder.  Nearly all the black japanning is present.  There is no rust or pitting, and even the nickel on the vials is very nice.  There are no casting problems, chips or cracks.  It is just a well-made level in super condition from a very collectible maker.

Good . . . .225.00        SOLD
