Auburn
Tool Co. Rosewood Plow Plane This
Rosewood plow is in nice overall condition. It has a period repair on
one arm support that was carefully done and adds character. Note the
chamfered edges to the iron stirrup the owner applied to his plane.
Also both outer nuts have tight cracks. Nice! enough! Good + . . . . . $95.00
SOLD!!
J.
R. Wood Lafayette Ind. Ivory Tipped Plow Plane The
stamp on the nose is probably an owner stamp given the position /
orientation. Plus the fact that he is not listed in Elliots book, and Google
does not recognize him.
Two tips have gone missing. The top of the tote has
a brass piece that might be original or is an early and interesting repair.
At a minimum, it has been on there a long long time. Pretty nice all
in all.
Good . . . . . $50.00
SOLD!!
Ohio Tool Co. # 104 Rosewood Plow Plane This Ohio Rosewood Plow has had some restoration work done. It looks OK,
and will be a nice display piece or user.
There is a
near invisible repair to the tip of the handle horn. There is an early repair to
the fence, being a bolt through it to stabilize a split along the grain. Lastly the rod threads are a bit chewed up.Good . . . . . $50.00
SOLD!!
G. W. Denison Rosewood Plow Plane This
Rosewood plow is in overall pretty nice condition. It dates from the
last quarter of the 19th century. The collector put a coat of clear lacquer on it. The inner lock nuts do not exactly
match. Other than that I see no issues.
Good +. . . . . $125.00
SOLD!!
McKinnell & Co. Cincinnati Plow Plane A nice looking 3
star Plow Plane by a rather obscure mid 19th Century Ohio maker whose working dates according to Elliots book were
pre Civil War 1848 - 1850. Includes 6 Greenfield cutters as shown. All
in all pretty nice. Good +. . . . . $175.00 w/ 6 Cutters
SOLD!!
Rosewood and Boxwood
Handled Plow Plane
Another wonderful example of a rare American plow plane. This unmarked Rosewood
plow plane is in exceptional overall condition. The plane body is damage
or crack free. The contrasting colors of the
Boxwood wedge, rods, and nuts in contrast with the Rosewood body are wonderful. The fence is made of a
third color dense hardwood that may be just a lighter rosewood. It is very nice.
There is one age check in one of the nuts and the end of one rod is a
bit chewed up. The
threads are very nice. The
skate and other metal parts are all nice and rust or pit free. A very nice
plane that deserves to be proudly displayed!!
Good +. . . . . . . $350.00 SOLD!!

Greenfield
Tool Co. No. 532 Plow Plane This
unhandled plow plane is in nice overall condition. It had a tag calling it
off as Boxwood, and parts of it surely are, but the body and fence have an
awful lot of grain to be boxwood. Not sure what it is. Good + . . . . . $45.00
SOLD!!

Kimberly
3 Arm English Plow Plane
These interesting design 3 arm plow planes are an English Patent that do not turn up here very
often. This one is in nice condition and still retains a fair amount of
original paint on the cast iron parts. It would react nicely to a wax
and clean.
Good . . . . . . .$225.00 SOLD!
M.
Copeland Plow Plane This
unhandled plow plane is in nice overall condition.Good + . . . . . $45.00
SOLD!!
"A.
C. Bartlett Ohio Planes" by Sandusky # 119 Beech Plow Plane
This Beech plow is in very nice condition. It is not marked Sandusky but was made by them. The nose has a weak A. C. Bartlett / Ohio
Planes stamp which is known and typical. It is the style Sandusky made with a form fitted handle for right handers. I am left handed. Kind of discriminatory and short sighted
if you think about it. Don't believe they made one for lefties. Nice!! Good + . . . . . $75.00
SOLD!!
Auburn Tool Co
Beech Handled Plow Plane
This handled Beech plow plane is in very nice overall condition. No
issues, no apologies.
A nice plow plane that deserves to be displayed or put back to use!!
Good +. . . . . . . $125.00
SOLD!
Sandusky Center Wheel "Self Regulating" Handled Boxwood Plow Plane
A nice example of a rare form of American plow plane. This great plow plane was one of the collectors favorites and he made a
special tag for it. I guess the term center wheel plow was not in use then as he identified this as a "Self Regulating" Sandusky.
Overall it is in super nice condition and the plane body has the warm shiny glow that 100 year old Boxwood exhibits. The rods are
nice, and the threads on the center rod are very nice. There is an age crack running through the handle that also shows in the body,
but it is tight, shows no sign of opening, looseness, or other problems. It is getting so that the only time these ever show up anymore are
at major tool auctions, and they have done nothing but go up in value over the last 20 years. Very Nice!!!
Fine +. . . . . . $5200.00
SOLD!!
Winsted
Plane Co. Rosewood and Boxwood
Handled Plow Plane
This Winsted Plane Co Rosewood plow plane is in very good overall condition.
This outfit was started in the 1830's and directory listings for them stopped in
the 1850's.
It is a beautiful American Rosewood plow plane with Boxwood arms & nuts. The plane body is damage
or crack free. The name stamp is clear and bold. The wedge is a bit chewed up
but OK. The
arm threads are nice. One boxwood nut has a tight crack. The
skate and other metal parts are nice and rust or pit free. A very nice
plane that deserves to be proudly displayed!!
Good +. . . . . . . $295.00
SOLD!!
Ivory
Tipped Ebony Plow Plane
Unmarked. There is some minor damage to the threads and some fine age checks in the body.
The inside nuts may be later replacements, and one would assume the ivory tips
were at one point capped. All in all a nice plane at a reasonable price.
Good . . . . . . $695.00
SOLD!!
Ebony
and Boxwood Handled Plow Plane
A wonderful example of a rare American plow plane. It is such a nice
piece, and so well done that is a wonder it is
unmarked as to maker. This unusual plow plane is in
exceptional condition and was another of the collectors favorites that he kept it in a special place.
The overall
condition is super nice and the
ebony plane body is damage or crack free. The contrasting colors of the
Boxwood rods and nuts are wonderful. There is some
minor chipping close in on the threads as can be seen in the pics. The
rest are very nice. The
skate and other metal parts are all nice and rust or pit free. The cutters
are not part of the price. Very Nice!!
Fine +. . . . . . . $1095.00
SOLD!!
