Baxter
Patent Double End Wrench
This smaller one is unmarked. It is OK. The larger one is marked
with the original patent granted in 1858, and also is stamped with a reissue date
from 1870. The patent was granted to a William Baxter of Newark NJ.
He had another patent in 1868 with the adjuster like the top wrench as well. Both work good.Top . . . . . Good . . . . . . $30.00 SOLD!!
Bottom . . . . .Good + . . . . . . $50.00
SOLD!!
Rolls
Royce Ltd. 3/16 - 1/4 Open End Spanner Wrench This interesting small wrench is in super
condition. It measures just 3" overall and is marked 3/16 - 1/4" in
the back side, but what it fits is much bigger than that. I believe the
sizes refer to the dia of the bolt and not the head size. Clearly marked
Rolls Royce Ltd. it is a hard to find and desirable little wrench. Nice & Different!!
Good +. . . . . . $40.00 SOLD!!
Quick
Adjust "Lever Wrench"
This is pictured in Schultz's book as #509 The handle is marked Pat Appl'd For
and Lever Co NY. It is more like a quick fine adjust than a simple
quick adjust. One might call it a dual adjust as well as you had to do
the rough adjust by turning the nut, no quick feature there at all.
The fine adjust is activated by squeezing the lever It is actually a great
idea when considering what most Crescent type wrenches are capable of doing
to nuts. That final 1/16 or 1/8" squeeze tight would make a
difference. Nice condition.
Good +. . . . . . $50.00 SOLD!!
Koeth
Interchangeable Wrench / Plier Set in Box aka KKK or Koeth's Kombination Kit There
looks like one jaw might be missing. The label is about unreadable. The wooden dividers between the jaws are gone.
These came with 6 different 2 piece jaw sets that could be put together to make 10 or more
different tools. Really quite well made. Different & Nice!Good + . . . . . . $40.00 SOLD!!
Winchester
# 1514 Double Open End Wrench Nice. Good + . . . . . . $15.00
SOLD!!
Planet
Jr K 48 Cut-Out Plow Wrench These small
cut-out wrenches were for use with the small garden plows
named Planet Junior that were offered. This
is the smallest size cut out wrench they made and far harder to find than most of the larger ones seen. Different & Nice!Good + . . . . . . $35.00
SOLD!!
Newell Sanders Plow Co. # 24 Wrench
Nice Good +. . . . . $25.00
SOLD!!
Standard
Sliding Wedge Jaw Quick Adjust Nut Wrench
This style wrench was Patented June 9th 1908. Several companies went
on to make different versions of this wrench. This one is simply
marked Standard. Nice. Good + . . . . . . $15.00
SOLD!!
Patented
May 1 1883 Combo Tool Erdman & Phillips of Philadelphia PA were granted the patent.
You can find it online. I am not sure who
the target user is, leather worker, upholstery, electrical, or anyone that
wanted an all in one tool around.
It has a number of different functions including a leather punch, hammer, tack puller,
crimper, pliers, wrench, vice, and? The punch post is missing.
I think the vise makes it.
Nice. Good . . . . . . $40.00 SOLD!!
Billings & Spenser
Lowe's Patent Adjustable Nut Wrench
The idea here was to rough adjust it with the
knurled nut on the bottom, and then get the final fit by squeezing the
handle and the jaws would tighten a bit more. A great idea, and a
pretty rare little pocket wrench. Nice!! Good +. . . . . . $175.00 SOLD!!
Richards
Mfg. Co. "Wizard" Ratcheting Wrench Joeseph Noyer of WA was granted two different patents for this design wrench. This is the
earlier and far rarer 1904 model patent # 777,389. The second patent was granted in 1907. An oddball design to tighten
railroad track bolts. This looks different from the patent drawing for the first model and was probably redesigned to open up the appeal.
Nice & Different!! Good +. . . . . . $75.00 SOLD!!
Duplex
Swivel Head Crescent Wrench
T
his ad is for the unusual wrench on top. The
name Duplex / Elizabeth NJ is on one side, and the manufacturer name,
Braunsdorf Mueller on the other. It is also stamped Pat Appl'd For. Nice & Different!!
"The
Anderson"Swivel Head Wrench
This ad is for the bottom wrench. "The Anderson" is on one side, and the patent date 6 - 23- 14 on the other. The
swivel feature works, but is difficult to make work. More trouble that it is worth.
Good + . . . . . . $85.00
SOLD!!
Good + . . . . . . $75.00
SOLD!!
Bay State Quick Adjust Nut Wrench Patented June 7th 1904
The logo on the top jaw
of this unusual wrench says it is the Bay State on the other side has patent
info on it .
Many collectible wrenches have designs based on what seems to be a good
idea, but in practice is a a lousy idea and worked poorly. This one fits the bill nicely
in a couple ways. First there is
no provision to allow for the final adjustment that is almost always needed
when using a nut wrench to avoid slippage and the resulting rounded nuts, or banged
knuckles. Perhaps quick adjust pipe wrenches could get away without this
but not so much nut wrenches. Another problem with this and many of the other quick adjust
wrenches that all the superior engineering and machining would come to a
sticky grinding halt with just a few grains of dirt in the proper place.
The overall condition is nice, and the operation OK, noting that the lever
actuated mechanism is a bit touchy. Seldom seen. A good One!!
Good . . . . . .$75.00
SOLD!
Unusual Quick Adjust Nut Wrench / Hammer From the marking on the head I assume it is foreign. Nice condition.
Different & Nice enough.Good . . . . . .$95.00
SOLD!!
4 Different Size Stephens Patent Wrenches The
patent # is 943757 and it was granted on Dec. 21, 1909. Each one
is marked with the patentees name on one side and the date on the other.
Each is marked with a size. From a time when the called off size had
nothing to do with the size of the head of the bolt or nut. The heads
ratchet from side to side, and each works although the springs on a couple
are weaker than others. All do work though. I read that 6 sizes
were available. Here is a good start to complete the collection, or
buy one to fill a hole. Different
Good + . . . . . . $125.00
SOLD!!
Universal Cut out Wrench No cracks or damage. Nice!!
Good + . . . . . . $35.00 SOLD!!
Ely
Patent Combo Tool Wrench This combination hatchet, wrench
hammer, cutter, puller and more is marked with the 1889 patent date shown.
The finished product has little too do with the original idea. This guy must
have had a lot on his mind as he added about a dozen new ideas to this version.
Check out the compound lever action he used. It is the first example I have
ever had or seen. A hard to find combo wrench that I wish had teeth in the
looped handle so I could call it a corn sheller as well.
Good . . . . . . $195.00 SOLD
Stanley
#1 Wagon Wheel Wrench
This unusual design wrench / brace was
designed with one purpose in mind. To affix the outer metal ring to wagon
wheels. This would fit over the rim and get the rivet or bolt from the top
and hold the bottom or nut as you turned the crank to tighten. Two or more
tools in one. It was probably the introduction of rubber tires that made this
a Stanley rarity shortly after they bought original maker out. These are usually
found unmarked, but this one is a marked Stanley. It is a rare tool.
Good . . . . . . $175.00 SOLD
IHC Cutout Implement Wrench
This is a tough one to find, and this one is
in exceptionally nice condition with absolutely no damage to the letters and it
still has what I believe to be original finish or black paint on it. It is
marked 770E on the back side near the smaller head. No rust, and no pitting
on this one. You will like it.
Good . . . . . . $375.00 SOLD
8" Anderson
Turnmore Adjustable Nut Wrench Patented 1906
This example is marked on the handle. Some were and some were not.
There is a lot of action crammed into a small area, and the design left the
adjusting screw almost too hard to get at. Different and unusual.
Good . . . . . .$45.00 SOLD!
6-8
Double Head Crescent Wrench Different & Nice!
Good + . . . . . . $40.00
SOLD!!
Bradley's
Wonder Cutout Wrench This wrench is in good condition. Other than
some minor pitting it is very nice. There is no damage to the letters.
A very hard to find cutout wrench and one of the largest and most graphic that
can be found..
Excellent . . . . .$695.00 SOLD
Unusual Bike / Motorcycle Wrench It is unmarked and I do not recognize it.
Looks English perhaps.
Note the little screwdriver though. Oh, not in Schultz's book if that
counts for anything anymore. Cute
Good . . . . .$75.00 SOLD
Merrick

Crescent Style Adjustable Plier / Wrench

offered. Different and hard to find.
Excellent. . . . .$125.00 SOLD!
Frich
Hi Wheel Bicycle Wrench
The first letter
on the name of this wrench is hard to read, but on the other side the Hi Wheel bicycle
logo is clear as day. A great wrench that has seen use, but is nice..
Excellent . . . . .$175.00 SOLD!
Bemis
& Call 6" Double End

to find of all double end cresent style wrenches. This wrench is in very nice condition, it is
virtually corrosion and pit free. Strong marking, no damage and ready for

Bullard
#0 Patent Oct. 27th 03 This is the smallest
size and most difficult to find quick adjusting pipe wrench by this maker.
It is in very nice condition and operates flawlessly. A nice example.
Excellent . . . . .$75.00 SOLD!
6-8" Double headed Crescent Wrenches From an era
when the thought of giving you a twofer for your money was not
considered a stupid or bad idea.
Excellent . . . . .$75.00 / the Pair SOLD!
Patented
Combination Alligator Wrench / Pliers / Hammer The date March 31 1908 is on the side. It is
in Schultz's book as Figure 255 and says the patent is March 31 1908. The
patent was actually granted to Norman McAslan of Iowa on July 19th 1909 and
the patent # is 964532. He called it a combination Tool.
Kind of a wacky looking idea
but that is what makes it good.
Good + . . . . . .$175.00 SOLD!
Quick Adjust Nut
Wrench The angled jaw indicates
Germany to me, and sure enough that is what the bar says. Cute!
Good + . . . . . .$65.00

"Victory"
Stove Lid Lifter Multi Tool
There are dozens, if not hundreds of variations of stove lifter multi
tools out there. One use to see them offered all the time. Not so much
anymore. I have had many different ones in the past, but do not
remember this variation named "VICTORY" with not only the standard lid
lifter, but also a hammer, wrench, hook, wooden handle, etc. Nice condition. Good + . . . . . . $24.00
SOLD!!
Granite State Cutout Wrench

Scholler 6-8" Double headed Crescent
Style Wrench This wrench is in nice condition,
and as it is one of the earlier styles of Crescent wrenches it is markedly larger
in scale than the newer thinner ones. A much harder wrench to find than the
more common Crescents or Diamolloy models.
Good + . . . . . . $45.00
SOLD!!
Duffy Patented Pipe Wrench
This one is clearly marked and hails from PA. It has a weird head design,
and I would bet it would snap right off if really put to the test, but back then
that was not the point. It was to try and produce or invent the better wrench.
A great example of an idea gone wild.
Good + . . . . . . $55.00
SOLD!!
Remington
Patented Buggy Wrench This one
is in good condition and fully operational. The spring is still strong.
These can also be found unmarked, but these unmarked ones are much harder to find.
