Coffee Mill
This c.1915 coffee
mill is a very hard to find example that is in pretty good condition. It has
the proper and operational cast iron speed control foot operated switch The cup
may be a replacement, but as i have never seen another I can not really say.
The advertisement that I have seen for this grinder shows it without a lid, and
I think we can safely assume that the one that is on it now was the last owners
solution to the spiders and other critters of the night taking up residence after
the lights were turned out. Rare!!

The
Star Mill Coffee Grinder
This unusual
Coffee Mill / Grinder, "The Star Mill", is from Philadelphia and if far rarer
than a comparable Enterprise coffee grinder. It is the size of a #7 mill and
is the type that would sit on the end of the counter in a large General Store back
near the turn of the century The condition of the paint on this grinder is
wonderful, and the stars on the wheels are a great touch. The wheels measure
22" and the internal mechanism is intact and operational. The brass top hopper
has some nickel loss and the lid needs to be soldered back on, but overall it still
looks pretty good. Mills this size that have not been restored and are this
nice with their original paint are becoming ever more difficult to find. In
the right setting this will make a great addition to the decor or overall effect
in that special setting.
Good + . . . . .$1295.00 SOLD!
Coles
#2 Size Coffee Mill
These #2 size coffee grinders by makers other than
Enterprise and L. F. & C. are becoming very difficult to find. This is a very
early example and in all likelihood dates from the last quarter of the 1800s. The paint is pretty good
with some areas showing chipping and loses, but overall it is very nice. The
Coles name and the location of Phila. Pa. are cast into both of the wheels which
measure 9 3/4" across. The paint and gold highlighting on these are very good.
The decals are here, and may clean, but look worn. The one apology is a small
chip out of one corner on the original cast iron drawer. The adjuster for
determining the grind is present and operable. The wooden base is original
and very nice as well. A nice example of a hard to find grinder.
Good + . . . . $395.00 SOLD!
"New Model" Patented
1886 Coffee Grinder
This cast iron open frame coffee mill was manufactured by New Union Manufacturing Company
of Freeport, Illinois. Freeport was also home to another famous coffee grinder
maker Arcade. The grinder is marked "New Model" in a curve on the cast iron base and "PTD. July 20 '86" inside the cast iron hopper.
The patent was obtained by Edward and Charles Morgan.
According to "The Macmillan Index of Antique
Coffee Mills" the general design, with wooden-faced metal drawer and the
open housing of the drawer, made the mill near unique and it is a quite hard
model to find.
This antique cast iron coffee grinder is in great condition, totally
functional with no breaks or repairs. Minimal wear or tear and lots of
original finish remains. Wooden base and drawer are original, as is the
crank knob. A rare coffee mill that
would compliment any antique coffee mill collection, primitive kitchen setting or a neat
addition to a old country store display.
Good + . . . . . $175.00
SOLD!
"New Model"
Cast Iron Table Top Coffee Mill
The
unusual grinder on the left is known as the New Model Grinder, and hails from Freeport
Ill. It is simple in design, and yet holds a fascination for us because of
this simplicity.

Grand
Union by Erie / Griswold Coffee Mill
This grinder is marked Grand Union, and was made by Erie. It is more
common than the Griswold version by far. They are often damaged, but this one is
nice noting that as usual the catch cup is missing..
Good + . . . . .$595.00 SOLD!
Erie
Lap Mill Style Cast Iron Coffee Grinder
The condition of the rare and desirable coffee mill is second to none. In addition to the Erie cast
into the lid, this one also has the name and location of a famous early
Hardware company that was in Syracuse New York back during the late 19th
century. That name was Hessler. We have had and seen the Grand Union version of this grinder
numerous times, and have owned the version marked Griswold a couple times, but
this is the first time we have seen this variation, and have never seen a nicer
condition example in any configuration. A rare and desirable piece by any
measure.
Good + . . . . .$1295.00 SOLD!
Golden Rule Coffee Mill / Grinder w/ Original
Arcade Catch Cup This Golden Rule wall
mount advertising coffee Grinder is a nice looking mill.
The cup is a generic replacement. There is a
small crack in the top corner of the glass window. It is above the window
hole
and from the outside looking in it is near invisible to see. It can only bee
seen when you look at it from the inside where it was taped. It is
otherwise very nice and damage free. The wood
board is nice, and the cast iron front with all the info cast into it is
very nice.
Good + . . . . .$495.00
SOLD!
Arcade
Model 1910 Deco Coffee Mill w/ Original Box & Instructions
This is just about the rarest of all coffee mills Arcade offered. It was
also the last wall mount model they offered. It has a great Deco look
to it, and this one is in super original condition. The catch cup is right,
the original rubber gasket is here, as are the original box, and instructions.
There are some very minor flakes on the top and bottom openings, but nothing
serious. A nice design and a super hard to find coffee mill that will
fit right into that kitchen remodel you are doing.
Very Good . . . . . .$295.00 SOLD!
Vintage Cast Iron Top
Wooden "Lap" / Coffee Mill
There are many different version of this style "lap" coffee mill. Most are not
marked as to name. They could be used on the countertop, and that is where
they display well, but they are known as lap mills as i imagine a lot of coffee
was ground while the operator sat down with this in his lap. Some had decals or paper labels that over the years
fell off or were worn away. I see no name on this one, or remnants of any
labels. It is a real and early one unlike some of the ones you can find
today.
It is well constructed and damage free.
It does look to have been refinished at some point in time.
Good + . . . . .$95.00 SOLD!!
Parker
#035 Cast Iron
Wall Mount Coffee Mill
This is a nice looking Charles Parker of Meriden CT wall mount coffee mill.
Although best known for their line of guns and shotguns, This famous outfit turned out
some of the finest cast iron house wares and other cast iron ever produced. Their coffee mills
are considered top of the line and sought after by many different collectors. This wall mount
Parker coffee mill is well constructed, damage free and operates well. The decals show wear, but are
there. Nice!!Good + . . . . .$195.00
SOLD!
Kenrick Cast Iron Coffee Mill
There are several different sizes and versions of this style "lap" coffee mill.
They can be found japanned or polished steel like this one. The brass tag
on the front gives the company name, logo and location. It is a well
constructed coffee mill and damage free. Nice!!
Good + . . . . .$125.00 SOLD!
Davidson's
1886 Patent Coffee Roaster This unusual coffee
roaster was patented in 1886 by O. E. Davidson of Nashville Tenn. It
is a rare and near unique design. Cranking the handle that is housed
in cast iron handle that looks like a corn cob activates the cast iron gear,
which engages the ring, which moves the articulated feet inside and the
center blades to stir up the beans as they were roasting. It is a very
ingenious setup that looks like it would work well. The patent can be
viewed easily by putting the title into Google. Beyond that there is
little to no info on this rare piece of Kitchenalia / Americana.
The tin top, which resembles a Chinese hat is correct. It does have some
minor damage. The main pan, the mechanism and its moving parts,
including the ring are all cast iron and in nice undamaged condition. Much
rarer than the cannonball design roaster that you see offered once in a
while. Nice!!
Good + . . . . .$1195.00 SOLD!
