Hard-to-Find 5" Swan Iron The 5" swan iron is always a favorite of not just iron collectors but anyone who appreciates the beauty and rarity of figural cast iron antiques.  Authentic 5" swans don't come up for sale very often---there are oftentimes reproductions of these irons offered up on ebay and elsewhere on the Internet, but there is no comparison between those repops and an original.  This example is guaranteed old and authentic.  As with many of the early ones, this swan suffered the all-too-common fate of a broken beak somewhere in its past.  Our consignor had it professionally restored a number of years ago, and the repair is barely noticeable unless pointed out.

The 5" Figural Swan Iron  The 5" swan iron is always a favorite not just of iron collectors, but of anyone who appreciates the beauty and rarity of figural cast iron antiques.  Authentic 5" swans don't come up for sale very often---reproductions of these irons are offered up on Ebay and elsewhere, but there is no comparison between those repops and an original.  This example is guaranteed old and authentic. 

And it is in super condition!  That is original gold wash finish you are seeing here.  And note the strong detailing in the casting of the feathers, the eyes, the tail, etc.  Many times these large swan irons are found with the beaks having been broken off and / or repaired.  The beak on this bird is 100% right. 

These 5" swans are very graphic in appearance, and very appealing.  Highly recommend!

2 Authentic Early Little Swan Irons Most collectors of child-size irons are aware that the little swan irons have been widely reproduced.  These two swan irons are guaranteed old and original.  They have the sure sign of authenticity---the "runner" or flattened bump on the chest that authenticates the early casting process.  They have good detailing and nice smooth bottoms.  These beautiful little swan irons measure 2.5 inches and 2.75 inches and are complete with their matching little trivets.

Small Swan Iron with Original Paint Here's an antique Swan iron that is sure to stand out amongst the rest of the flock!  It is so rare to find swans with traces of their original paint.  On this 2 3/4" example not only is there gold on the swan itself, but it even retains gold on its matching trivet.  With good detail in the feathers and face, and with the well-defined break mark on the chest, there is no doubt as to it's authenticity and its age.  Yo 're guaranteed to fall in love with this one!

1 3/8" Miniature Swan   Swans under 1 1/2" are pretty rare birds.  We have had them all the way down to 1 1/8", but only a handful of all of them under the typical 1 1/2".  Some original paint, and a bit rough, but it wants to join the flock.  Early and nice!

Paint Decorated Red Swan Iron  This is a super condition toy Swan iron. It is very unusual to find examples with this much original finish remaining. In addition to the red there is black outlining and the top of the handle was done in yellow. Very nice! This 2 7/8" example is one of the larger models that can be found. It will be a long time before you see another with this good finish.

Small Dover Spokane / Seattle Advertising Iron   The basic form is very common, but those with different advertising, usually from the Pacific Northwest, are so hard to find that they can be considered rare.  Very nice!

Enterprise Worlds Fair / Expo Giveaway Miniature Sad Iron   They gave these out or sold them at the large expos held around the country back near the turn of the century.  2 bodies, and one good handle.  Very unusual and the condition is nice!

Black Mammy & Chef Figural Cast Iron Spoon Rests / Stove Advertising     These vintage cast iron spoon rests are interesting and something you rarely see or find outside of  advertising auctions.  Mammy is holding a flatiron and what looks like a trivet.  Each is marked on the back "Compliments Toledo Stove & Range Co."  Very nice!

W. H. Lent Tailors Supplies Advertising Paper / Fabric Weight    This figural cast iron advertising piece is pretty rare.  It measures 2.5" W x 4" L x 3.25" T and is shaped like an iron with a sitting man on top.  The figure is usually referred to as a Chinaman.  The store this came from was located at 68 West 23rd St., New York, NY. and that and other info is cast into the iron shaped body.  It dates from the late 19th century and is in very good condition with lots of original nickel plating remaining.  A really fine piece of figural cast iron!!

Miniature Pleuger & Henser Advertising Iron   This is the version with the inset plate on both sides.  I have seen this rare iron bring close to $1000 in the last two auctions it was offered in.  Early and nice!!  Highly recommend!

Charles Cockshutt & Co. Tailor Iron Advertising Paperweight    When do you see them in this nice condition!!

Charles Cockshutt & Co. Figural Cast Iron Paperweight    This is a great piece of laundry related advertising from the late 19th century.  It is nickel plated cast iron depicting a tailor iron mounted on a good luck horseshoe, with the company name cast around the perimeter.  The horseshoe base is about 4" long.  Google turns up no info on this company name related to tailor supplies or laundry, but there is info on a tractor / farm implement company of that same name from that era.   Nice!!

Rare Sunflower Removable Handle Toy / Lace Iron   This sunflower decorated iron, made by the renown J&E Stevens company, is considered the rarest of all child-size irons.  Examples have sold for as much as 5K at auction in the past.  The handle design is unique.  The base shows some pitting and wear, and the trivet looks to be a recast, but the iron is legit and the handle good.  A super piece!

Miniature Figural Ox Tail Iron Sewing Tape Measure   This tiny iron is in great condition with lots of nickel plating remaining and a super nice handle.  The tape measure pulls out and winds back in as it should.   Just 2" long and very fine!!

Miniature Cast Iron Rocker Fluting Iron    The base of this tiny fluting iron measures just 1.5" x 1", just a fraction of the size of the miniature Geneva.  The casting is very fine and it has great patina.  Guaranteed old and original.  Outstanding!!

Miniature Enterprise Mrs. Potts Style Iron    Measuring just barely 1" long these irons were exact miniatures of the full size models.  They were given away or sold at the Worlds Fairs and Expos that were held around the turn of the 20th century as promotionals for the company.  The bottoms are marked and the handles remove just like the big ones.  This example is in excellent condition   A fine piece!!

Sandwich Glass Miniature White / Milk Glass Iron  Sandwich is the oldest town on Cape Cod, Massachusetts and was the location of the renown Boston & Sandwich Glass Co.  This miniature iron was one of their many pieces of quality glassware, and was produced in several colors.  It measures a bit under 1.5".  Minor chipping, but nice!!

Little "Peerless Cleaners" Advertising Iron    This is the only example of this small nickel plated advertising iron I have ever seen or had.  It measures 2.75" in length and the base is relatively thin.  Great sharp casting and most of the original nickel plating remains.  Really, really nice!!

Miniature Billiard Iron    This is an incredibly well made miniature billiard iron.  It measures just 1.75" long, 1" wide, and barely 1" tall.  It is marked "J R".  I really don't know how old it is, or its origin, but it's a great looking piece!!

Miniature Primitive Curl Handle SadIron    This is an early blacksmith-made iron.  The form of the handle is exquisite, turned up and curled at the front end, and shaped from flat to round at the back  You see this style iron in the larger sizes from time to time, but this one is very unusual in that it is less than 1.5" long.   The real deal!!
