Stanley No. 10 1/2 Rabbet Plane This is pretty nice. The Sweetheart logo cutter dates it from the 1920s - 30s. The cutter is nice and near full length. All in all a good condition rabbet plane that will be a good user.

No rust or pitting to mention. No structural issues. The Rosewood handle has a tight crack halfway down that has not been glued or dealt with. There is little finish remaining on the wood. An easy fix. The japanning is good and over 80%.

Type 1 Stanley # 39 7/8" Dado Plane  Super nice original condition. This type 1 dates from right around the turn of the century.  It has the distinctive cap tightening and depth adjuster screws, plus the different way the size is engraved on the back side. A very nice early example.

Stanley # 39 3/8" Rabbit & Dado Plane   The Stanley #39 Rebating & Dado plane came in various sizes.  Its cutter is set at a skew, and it has nickers to cut the path. This is the 3/8".  The overall condition is very nice.

Stanley # 39 1/4" Dado Plane   Sweetheart era.  90% or so of the original japanning.  Good Spurs, nice cutter.  Proper depth stop.   A useful & popular tool.  Nice!!!

Stanley # 48 Tongue & Groove Plane   This Stanley T & G plane is in nice condition.  No rust or pitting.  The cutters are proper and nice.

Stanley # 54 Rabbit & Dado Plane   This is a rare and unusual Stanley Plane.  The #54 Stanley were built on a Stanley #50 body, and then had a few changes made to them so Stanley could offer a "New" and different plane to the hungry consumer. 

This one is all proper with a correct fence, long & short rods, 8 cutters and the depth stop.  The japanning is near perfect, and there is little evidence this plane was ever used.  The 3/16ths cutter has some minor pitting, but the rest of the cutters are like new.  This plane has sat in an owner made wooden box for 50 + years and looks great.  A tough plane to find that has not been fiddled with or even used.  A good one!!

Stanley # 54 Rabbit & Dado Plane   The Stanley #54 Rebating & Dado plane is one of the rarer and harder to find Stanley planes of this type.  It is basically a #50 with slight modifications.  In order to be proper the fence needs to be marked 54 as this ones is.   It was only made for about 13 years, and in very limited numbers.  What is here is all proper and original.  It is in very nice condition. This version has the blade adjuster so the cutters have a slot milled into the back.  That means that cutters from a later 50 will work and be proper.  There are 7 straight cutters as shown in the pic, and I have thrown in the #50 bead cutters I got with it as well.  Shown in the last pic.

Stanley # A 78 Aluminum Rabbet Plane  Stanley offered their line of Aluminum planes less than 15 years and production ended in the mid to late 30s for all the different size and model Aluminum planes they made.  Stanley made the aluminum 78 for just 10 years spanning 1925 - 1935.  The aluminum was very soft and they are prone to scratch. This example is pretty clean & nice!!  It has the proper and correct aluminum depth stop and fence, but the groove for it has been modified and does not look factory.  I tried to clean it up by hand, and it works OK, but looks nothing like a factory groove.

Stanley A #78 Aluminum Duplex Rabbet Plane  The Stanley A #78 is a tough plane to find complete, original, and in this nice condition.  It is all proper, correct and very nice.

Stanley Sweetheart Era # 78 Duplex Rabbet Plane in Box  Near Mint Sweetheart Era in original box.  No rust, pitting, or damage.  99% or better original japanning. This plane is near 100 years old and saw little to no use.  You just do not find them this nice anymore and still in the sweetheart era box.  Like New!!

Stanley # 78 Duplex Rabbet Plane in Original Box   The #78 is Stanley's best known and most popular rebating plane.  It is a very versatile plane and a favorite with users.  This one is in like new condition with all the parts.  The box show normal wear and tear after close to 80 years.  It is a sweetheart ear and all correct and proper.

Stanley Type 1 # 78 Rabbet Plane  This one is one of the earliest 378 duplex rabbits.  Shows use, but is sound and pretty nice.  Many users prefer these over the newer versions.  .

Stanley # 78 W Weatherstrip Rabbet Plane  This is the captive screw version.  All proper, all correct, and nice overall condition to boot. It has sat on a shelf in a collection for the last 40 or so years, and saw little use in the 40 or so years before that.  This Weatherstrip  version of the 78 rabbet plane was only offered for 10 years or so  before WWII.  Full length cutter, fence, depth stop, and the rest.  Nice!!

Stanley 79 Double Side Rabbet Plane in Box  Minty nice / NOS in box and appears to have never been used.

Stanley # 98 & 99 Side Rabbet Planes  Both are in Good + condition.  Some loss to the nickel.  One has a logo on the cutter and the other does not.  They do not have depth stops or a provision for them which is proper for earlier versions.  Nice examples.

Stanley # 90 Steel Cased Skew 1" Rabbet Plane Very nice!! Good throat.  Long cutter. Original finish.  Mouth has not been opened.  Marked in two places on the top.

Stanley # 98 & 99 Side Rabbet Planes  Both are in fine condition.  Some loss to the nickel.  One has a logo on the cutter dating it from the teens.  They do not have depth stops which is proper for earlier versionss.  Very nice early examples.

Stanley # 140 Rabbit Block Plane w/ Skew Cutter    The cutter still has plenty of life left and is near full length.  The japanning is original and at least 90%.   Given that the cap is Japanned I assume this was one of the last examples before they stopped production during WWII..   The side plate is nice, and the screws are original and proper.  These are considered one of the best designed Stanley planes and are a favorite with users.

Stanley # 140 Skew Cutter Rabbeting Block Plane  Nice overall condition.  One of the screws to lock the side plate is a replacement with proper thread pitch as the threads in both holes are OK.  Used but not abused!!  A good user.

Stanley # 180 - 181 - 182  Rabbet Planes   Stanley first introduced this line of rabbit planes in 1886.  They came in three different sizes.  1", 1 1/4, and 1 1/2" wide.  They did not have any spurs and that is the main difference from the #190 series that look similar.

Stanley No. 192 Rabbet Plane Complete w/ depth stop and nicker.  Full length 1" cutter / blade.  Like new condition.

Stanley # 190 Rabbet Plane  Offered from 1886 - 1962. 1 1/2" wide cutter. Complete w/ depth stop and near full length cutter. Past owner had slotted screws of the right TPI made for the depth stops of some of his Stanley Rabbet planes. This has one of those installed. They work well. Overall very nice condition.

Stanley # 192 Rabbet Plane  1" wide cutter.  Complete w/ depth stop and near full length cutter.  Overall very nice condition. Offered from 1886 - 1962.

Stanley # 196 Curve Rabbet Plane   This Stanley # 196 Curve Rabbet Plane is a very hard to find Stanley plane. They were only made for a little over 20 years beginning back in 1912 and this is 1 of just a couple I have had in the last 20 some years.  It is by far the nicest condition one i have ever had.   The condition is super with well over 95% of the original nickel plating remaining.  The 1" skew double cutter is proper /original and near full length. All adjusters and depth stops are correct and work.  Some people love them, some not, but there is no argument that they are a pretty rare and interesting plane.    Nice!!

Stanley # 239 1/8" Dado Plane   Stanley offered this design plane in four sizes.  This is the smallest at 1/8".  It is complete with is front spur cutter.   The main cutter is proper. This small dado plane is very nice with 90% or so japanning.  Minor spotting of rust that will clean. Nice!!

Stanley 1/8" No. 239 Special Dado Plane  This Stanley Rule & Level Co. 1/8" No. 239 Special Dado Plane is in good overall condition with minor loss to the japanning. Good cutter and nicker. No depth stop. Little or no pitting on the plane body.

The fence is damaged. About 1" of the "wing" on the left side is broken off / missing. It should have 2 indexing rods as well that are missing. It is usable and functional w/ the missing piece and no rods. A nice little special use dado plane.

Stanley # 278 Rabbet / Fillister Plane w/ Proper Fence   This Stanley # 278 is in excellent condition.  These were made for a little over 30 years beginning in 1915.  This one is a Sweetheart era model dating from the 20's early 30's.   The condition of this example is super with 98% or so of the original japanning remaining.  All adjusters the fence, nickers, and depth stops are present, proper, correct and work.    Nice!!

Stanley 278 Fillister & Rabbet Plane    Used, and still good.   The 278 is a versatile little bull nose rabbeting and fillister plane.  The screw for the depth stop is a replacement.  The rest all looks good!!

Stanley No. 278 Rabbet & Fillister Plane  The Stanley No. 278 is a versatile little rabbet plane with a removable front allowing it to become a bull nose rabbet plane. It has a 1" wide cutter. This example is in very nice condition, and has the proper fence that is oftentimes missing. The depth stop has gone missing. Nice!!

Stanley #278 Rabbet & Fillister Plane   A handy plane for rabbits. The front comes off for bull nose work, and it is ground on both sides so it can be laid flat. The depth stop is incorrect, but the fence and the rest is right, and nice.

Stanley # 289 Skew Rabbet & Fillister Plane w/ Proper Fence   This Stanley # 289 plane is in excellent condition.  It is a Sweetheart era model from the 20's - 30's.    These were made for a little over 35 years beginning in 1911.   The condition of this example is super with 95% or better of the original japanning remaining.  It has its proper fence which could be mounted on either side.  A heavy duty plane that is favored over the 78 because of it skew cutter.   Nice!!

Stanley # 289 Skew Rabbet & Fillister Plane w/ Proper Fence   This Stanley # 289 plane is in excellent condition.  The J logo on the cutter would indicate it dates from the 1870's, but Walters book says they were not introduced until 1911.  The condition is super with 90% or better of the original japanning remaining.  It has the proper fence and depth stop which could be mounted on either side.  A heavy duty skew cutter rabbet plane that is favored over the 78 because of it skew cutter.   Nice!!

Stanley # 289 Skew Fillister & Rabbet Plane   This plane has a nice long sweetheart era cutter in it.  It has the proper fence and rod.  The slitter is present.  Minor loss to the japanning on the handle. Still approx. 90%.  No rust or pitting.  A versatile plane and favorite with users ready to upgrade from the typical 78.  Nice!!

Stanley # 289 Skew Rabbit & Fillister Plane  The plane is all original, and has the proper centered fence that is oftentimes missing.  It is a Sweet Heart era.  A versatile, heavy duty plane with a skew cutter that works well in a variety of applications.  Nice!!

Stanley # 289 Skew Rabbet Plane w/ Box   The plane is mint.  The box is pretty nice w/  a split on one end at the top.  The cutter has a sweet heart logo and with it being  in a picture box I believe would date it from the beginning of the Sweetheart era and the early 20's.  As nice as they get!!

Stanley 289 Skew Rabbet Plane  Pretty nice noting the fence is from a 78 and not exactly proper. The correct one is a bit heavier and the wings on either side of the rod are the same length. Lots of original japanning, the cutter is long and nice, No other issues or problems.

Stanley # 378 Weatherstrip Rabbet & Fillister Plane   This Stanley # 378 plane is in excellent condition.  These were made for a little over 30 years beginning in 1928.   The condition of this example is super with 98% or so of the original japanning remaining.  The fence could be mounted on either side.  Walters says they are handy planes for cutting different width rabbets.    Nice!!

Stanley No. 278 Rabbet & Fillister Plane  This Stanley No. 278 has seen use, and is a bit dirty w/ missing finishes.  They are a versatile little rabbet plane with a removable front allowing it to become a bull nose rabbet plane. It has a 1" wide cutter. This example is in good used condition.  It has the proper fence that is oftentimes missing.  The depth stop is present.  A good user. Nice enough!!
